Dancers will be grouped into three divisions based on age and ability. Placement, which is non-negotiable, will be finalized within the first few days of classes.

Attendance at IBCSI may also serve as a student’s audition for the Pre-Professional Day Program. Students wishing to be evaluated during the summer for admittance into the Day Program may express their intent and interest to the Admissions or Administrative Director before or during the first week of classes. All interested students must attend an IBCSI Audition. Currently enrolled IBC students who meet the initial age requirements need not attend an audition, but should confirm with the school regarding the student’s eligibility prior to enrolling in SI.

Students are housed with host families during the summer, which are carefully selected by IBC. Fees start at $300 per week, which covers the students’ room & board, food, and transportation to and from the studio. Students may also opt to bring additional spending money for weekend activities, shopping and souvenirs, and other excursions.

For questions regarding housing, please contact Admissions.

Summer Registration Fee $35 (new families only)

$35 per week for Before-Care at 8 am (no daily option)

IBC’s Young Dancers’ Intensive (YDI) gives serious young students the same well-rounded dance education that is offered in our Summer Intensive for older students, with consideration for the age-appropriate time and class content for ages 6+. Taught by our Preparatory staff, the YDI allows students to experience their own “mini-intensive” while receiving in-depth training in Ballet Technique, Pre-Pointe, Historical Dance, and Conditioning.

In addition, students spend time learning original choreography or pieces within IBC’s repertoire, providing the opportunity to learn and familiarize themselves with various styles of dance. This highly anticipated program has become an important cornerstone of the IBC summer experience and also provides a wonderful introduction for new students to the training and teaching style at IBC.

Special seminars may include nutrition, costume history, injury prevention, and stage makeup. Parents will be treated to an informal studio demonstration on the final day of each week. Multiple weeks are encouraged in order to build upon technical elements and repertoire.

IBC offers ongoing summer evening classes for all Preparatory & Pre-Professional levels to ensure students receive a consistency in training and education throughout the summer.

Summer is the prime time to focus on improvement in ballet in all levels; without the added stress of school or other commitments, students are able to better concentrate on their technique and make meaningful improvements prior to the fall semester. It is also highly recommended that all Pre-Professional Division students attend a minimum of two-three weeks in Summer Intensive and Prep 3/4 students attend one-three weeks in Young Dancer Intensive.

In order to accommodate for active summer lifestyles, families may register for individual classes or for the entire session. Typically, classes are offered once per week for Preparatory levels, and up to 3 times per week for Pre-Professional students during the 4 week summer session.

Summer Storybook Camps Tuition – Details coming soon

$35 per week for Before-Care at 8am (no daily option)

$35 per week for After-Care until 1pm (no daily option)

IBC Camps are designed to continue the solid foundational dance training taught throughout the school year. Within a warm and friendly environment, children also have the opportunity to make new friends and learn about weekly themes in an educational setting.

Offering the strong ballet instruction for which IBC is known, students also spend time delving into each weekly ballet or storybook as they discuss music, costumes, and other details pertaining to the story. Themed crafts, games, and snacks will be provided (students with dietary restrictions or allergies should bring their own snack). All parents and visitors will enjoy a casual demonstration on the last day of camp.

We encourage students to attend multiple weeks of camp, as they are designed to offer a new experience each week. Before and after-care is available at additional cost.
