IBC’s Summer Intensive is a comprehensive five-week program designed to give serious students a well-rounded dance education and exposure to the Vaganova-based curriculum provided by IBC. IBC now offers an additional 3 Early Intensive Weeks in June which are perfect to “stay-in-shape” or prepare for a later intensive. Taught by our world-class instructors in a professional atmosphere, the IBCSI will allow students to experience the training that has consistently won awards and recognition in the ballet world. Now in its 9th year, the IBCSI has quickly grown into one of the most well-regarded and sought-after summer programs for career-minded students.

With well over 30 hours per week of training and focused attention on individual needs, IBCSI provides each student a greater opportunity to grow and improve. Students receive the highest level of training by our esteemed Faculty:

  • Alyona Yakovleva-Randall, Founding Artistic Director
  • Tatiana Pali, Academy Principal and Ballet Mistress
  • Sergey Sergiev, Contemporary Instructor & Choreographer
  • as well as others, plus Master Classes by leading professionals in the ballet world

Classes will be taught from Monday through Friday from 10:00 AM – 5:00 PM. A detailed class schedule will be given to accepted students prior to the first day of classes. Classes to include the following:

  • Ballet Technique
  • Pointe (or Pre-Pointe)

Although this is intended for ladies and gentlemen 10-19 years of age, there may be exceptions for younger students who have special Faculty approval. Dancers will be grouped into three divisions based on age and ability. Placement, which is non-negotiable, will be finalized within the first few days of classes.

Attendance at IBCSI may also serve as a student’s audition for the Pre-Professional Day Program. Students wishing to be evaluated during the summer for admittance into the Day Program may express their intent and interest to the Admissions or Administrative Director before or during the first week of classes. All interested students must attend an IBCSI Audition. Currently enrolled IBC students who meet the initial age requirements need not attend an audition, but should confirm with the school regarding the student’s eligibility prior to enrolling in SI.

Students are housed with host families during the summer, which are carefully selected by IBC. Fees start at $300 per week, which covers the students’ room & board, food, and transportation to and from the studio. Students may also opt to bring additional spending money for weekend activities, shopping and souvenirs, and other excursions.

For questions regarding housing, please contact Admissions.

YDI Tuition- $200 per week: includes IBC t-shirt

Summer Registration Fee $35 (new families only)

IBC’s Young Dancers’ Intensive (YDI) gives serious young students the same well-rounded dance education that is offered in our Summer Intensive for older students, with consideration for the age-appropriate time and class content for ages 6+. YDI allows students to experience their own “mini-intensive” while receiving in-depth training in Ballet Technique, Pre-Pointe,  and Conditioning.

In addition, students spend time learning original choreography or pieces within IBC’s repertoire, providing the opportunity to learn and familiarize themselves with various styles of dance. This highly anticipated program has become an important cornerstone of the IBC summer experience and also provides a wonderful introduction for new students to the training and teaching style at IBC.

Special seminars may include nutrition, costume history, injury prevention, and stage makeup. Multiple mini intensives are encouraged in order to build upon technical elements and repertoire.
